This song may get stuck in your head! I have added rock rhythms and tree percussion underneath, but challenge your students to come up with even more nature based instrument ideas!

Turn Gray Squirrel into a musical game

Did you know that squirrels organize their nut caches based upon what kind of nut it is? (Read more more about amazing Gray Squirrels here) Use this song as a game to teach identification skills. Put a pile of nuts (or leaves or shells or anything that can be sorted) in the middle of the circle. Outside of the circle, place one of each type of nut. When it is a student’s turn they will pick up an item in the middle of the circle and bring it to the correct pile outside the circle as they follow the directions in the song.
